On the 10th of this month, Forbes Asia released the Forbes Asia 100 To Watch, the magazine's first-ever list highlighting notable small businesses and startups across the Asia Pacific region. The list features 100 successful growth companies that have positively impacted their local markets, achieved high customer satisfaction, and attracted investors. Of the 100 companies selected, only seven are Japanese, and I was selected as one of them.
The 100 companies selected have made remarkable progress and impact despite the harsh climate brought on by the Covid-19 pandemic. Their inclusion on the list is due in part to the fact that they are addressing critical issues with innovative solutions," said Justin Doebele, editor of Forbes Asia.
The Forbes Asia 100 to Watch list includes companies from industries as diverse as biotech and healthcare, e-commerce and retail, food and hospitality, and education and recruitment. Across the Asia Pacific region, 17 countries and regions are represented, with 22 vibrant startups from India, 19 from Singapore, 10 from Hong Kong, 8 from Indonesia, and 7 from Japan.
The list was selected from more than 900 companies nominated by accelerators, incubators, SME advocacy groups, universities, venture capitalists, and through an online call for entries. The criteria for selection were private or for-profit companies headquartered in the Asia Pacific region that have been in business for at least one year and have annual sales or funding of less than $20 million (approximately ¥2.17 billion). The criteria included regional and industry impact, track record of revenue growth and fundraising capacity, promising business models and markets, and a compelling story.
