The Osaka preliminary round of the Startup World Cup was held at the Knowledge Theater on Thursday, February 6, 2020, with over 400 people in attendance, and the startups that will represent Japan were selected.
Water Design is the world's first company to receive certification for its nano-sized ultra-fine bubble generator, "UFB DUAL," as the winner of the Osaka preliminary contest. (Headquarters: Adachi-ku, Tokyo; President: Zenko Shibatsuka; henceforth Water Design https://www.waterdesign.tokyo/).
SIRC Inc. won the Microsoft Japan Award, and Water Design Inc. won the Suntory Award, which was also awarded to the Osaka champion. In addition, the Osaka preliminary round sponsors' special awards went to EAGLYS Corporation for the MONEX Ventures Award, Next Innovation Corporation for the wework Award, and mui Lab Corporation for the PR TIMES Award.
Anis Uzzaman, Co-President Partner and CEO of Silicon Valley-based Pegasus Tech Ventures, the organizer of this year's event, said, "This year's event, the fourth edition, had more startups than ever before, and the content was even better. Although this was the first time the event was held in Osaka, we had a full house at the Knowledge Theater and many people came to the satellite venues as well. We are grateful for the support of so many large corporations. I am very happy that this conference, which contributes to the revitalization of the global ecosystem, was held in three locations, Tokyo, Osaka, and Kyushu. The finals will be held in May this year and will attract many investors, so I hope that WaterDesign and Looop, representing Japan, will do their best to win the $1 million investment. He added.
Water Design/Water Design Japan will represent Japan in the global finals to be held in Silicon Valley, the mecca of innovation, on Friday, May 22, 2020, where it will compete with startups from 60 countries representing each region for a 100 million yen investment prize.
